This year medical mission centered on visiting Da Nang Hospital.  One particular patient stood out demonstrating the difference in medical practices between the United States and Vietnam.  Specially the post-op care of a left hip fracture was discussed.  We exchanged ideas and treatment options to improve mortality and minimize complications. Early ambulation, DVT prophylaxis, early removal of foley catheter, adequate pain control and skin breakdown were discussed with the Chief of Surgery.  We will continue following her care over the next several weeks…
